Espag Lock Backset Measuring Guide

SIMPLE STEPS TO HELP YOU CHOOSE THE CORRECT FOR YOUR WINDOW LOCK

To Measure the backset on your window lock you need to measure from the middle of the spindle hole to the front of the face plate. Take a look at the picture below and the red arrows show you where to measure.

The holes that the Bolts go through are a set distance and are the same on ALL window locks (43mm).

    Very good service and product

Posted by Daryl D'Cruz on Apr 26, 2016

I bought 2 of these gearboxes, after speaking with a customer service advisor a week ago,I didn't have any idea whether I would get these parts,as I kept reading that the parts might be obsolete,so I read up on Handles and Hinges website that if I wasn't sure of the part I required to send them a photo of the old part I had removed from my window. I followed up with a phone call and a customer service advisor looked for my email, found it,went through the measurements, got me to double check one of the measurements he wasn't happy with, and told me exactly which gearbox will do the job,so I ordered 2 of the gearboxes. The gearboxex arrived within the time period stated. They were a perfect match to the gearboxes I removed, and they fitted perfectly, and working well. I am in the process of replacing all my window gearboxes,as I had one fail on me,and it happened to be upstairs, and it cost me a lot of money to get a guy out to open the window and replace the gearbox So I am ordering the rest today. Well done to Handles and Hinges for your customer service and your professionalism. Just one point, may be a bit picky, but could you show your delivery charge, which is VERY reasonable before getting to check out. Thank you and well done. Daryl D'Cruz

    Not Bad

To be fair although it was the wrong gearbox, (it was not offset) I found it impossible to access the offset version ? do you have? It was however possible to rout out the window frame to fit the gearbox, had to make router bit for electric drill. Lots of work 2 windows working again now. Comment from Handles and Hinges. Thanks for the feedback. As far as we are aware the offset version is no longer made.

    Outstanding service!

Posted by charlie on Jul 31, 2013

As an ordinary DIY person, I thought I would have a go at replacing the locking gearbox on one of my windows, but I didn't really know what part I needed to do this. However, after reading on the website - "send a picture and we will see if we can identify the product" this is what I did. The next day I had a reply with all the information I needed to order a part in confidence it was the right one. Another two days saw the part arrive that was soon fitted. Outcome, perfectly working window - can't ask for better service!
