Description
This Fuhr 856 Type 1 multipoint is a one piece mechanism consisting of a latch, deadbolt and four rollers.
Available in various backsets, take care to ensure you have made the correct selection.
Size:
- Backset: 35mm
- Distance between outer rollers: 1510mm
- Distance between inner rollers: 695mm
Operation:
- Lift lever
Latch Reversal:
- Push latch back to reveal small hexagonal screw in side of case adjacent to the latch undo screw to remove latch. Reverse and reinstate
Simple steps to help you choose the right size backset for your Gearbox
The Backset size is A in the diagram
Measure from the the front of the main faceplate (A in the diagram) to the middle of the spindle hole. This measurement is taken when the gearbox is attached to the main front face plate.
Measurement B is the PZ Centre.

Easy to find on the website, and considering the age of the door fitted after using a hacksaw on the length and shifting 2 of the roller catches on the frame. Can't really comment on the quality as I will need to wait for a few years, but looks good.

Fuhr 856 Type 1 Multipoint 4 Rollers Lift Lever.
Very pleased with the product. I did need to modify ie the screw holes in the fixing strip in the new product did not match up to the old strip,also i needed to drill out the door frame as the locking latch was longer on the new product. Also the new door handle fixing holes did not match up to the old handle fixing holes, i now need to find a dowel to fill in the exposed hole. Other than that everything is fine.
