We were able to find this handle which exactly fitted all our measurements for a replacement. Not easy to find! We had a split-spindle and this was not but we used one of our existing spindles with a spring on it and bought a 70-mm spindle to use with one of the spring cassettes supplied. This made sure that the internal handle was not floppy. Looks great now.

Having just acquired a further property to let, I decided to replace all the anodised gold door furniture with more modern satin-nickel plated components. This has dramatically transformed the appearance of the front door as well as renewing the older handles which were showing sign of wear and tear. This particular product is identical in design and dimensions to the previous handles which operate on a split shaft allowing the outer pad handle to prevent access even when the door is unlocked. This security feature depends of course on the type of locking mechanism already fitted to the door. Hoppe handles are of highest quality and come complete with separate sprung-return cartridges. Fitted in minutes, the results are very pleasing to the eye.
