Saracen Deadlock Gearbox for upvc windows.

Deadlock mechanism systems consist of shootbolts and a unique central gearbox with a deadlock. The shootbolts fit into the the gearbox mechanism with a bayonet fitting using a twist-and click motion. Shootbolt rods are available in four lengths and are simple to connect to the gearbox mechanism with easy to adjust screw thread action to suit any tolerance variations.
Gear box mechanisms available in backset of 22mm and with latch size of 9.5mm or 11.5mm
The deadbolt that moves in and out of the middle of the gearbox mechanism size can be either 9.5mm or 11.5mm. You can find the deadbolt size on the end of the latch. See picture

Espag Lock Backset Measuring Guide
SIMPLE STEPS TO HELP YOU CHOOSE THE CORRECT FOR YOUR WINDOW LOCK
To Measure the backset on your window lock you need to measure from the middle of the spindle hole to the front of the face plate. Take a look at the picture below and the red arrows show you where to measure.
The holes that the Bolts go through are a set distance and are the same on ALL window locks (43mm).

SARACEN WINDOW DEADLOCK
Price and delivery very good and the deadlock very effective when locked but the deadlock does not take a lot of strain should the window become misaligned and the bolts need that extra nudge to find the keeps. Any undue force will result in the deadlock breaking. Would use Handles and Hinges again. COMMENT FROM HANDLES & HINGES The style of the Saracen lock is very tight compression. If you find the bolts being to tight it could be a slight bend in you window (especially if the window is Brown or dark) this can be eased slightly by using a file on the bolt ends to flatten the edges to accommodate the bend. Also some Vaseline or grease applied to the guides will ease the lining up.

Easy to fit
Had to 'phone Handles and hinges because the latch size on the broken gearbox was 12.5(or 13.5). Excellent service and advice. You probably don't need new shoot bolts. You only need to remove cover strips and ONE bolt keep. Only drawback is that the original gearbox lasted only 8 years in a vert frequently used window.

Just What I needed
Useful to know these products are still available at a reasonable price. Easy to install once I had removed the old one. Window as good as new. Will use Handles & Hinges again.

Excellent Product
My window man told me this Item was no longer available due to saracen stopping making this kind of window lock He wanted to charge me over £400 for a new window. Handles and hinges sorted this problem out with a quick call. Will use again. Mrs Barron
